ATP Support for Custom Wheelchairs, Group 3 Power Wheelchairs, & Seating and Positioning Systems

CareLinc’s Complex Rehab team helps children and adults find custom mobility equipment that supports their medical, functional and everyday needs. Our RESNA-certified Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) participate directly in wheelchair evaluations, equipment selection and configuration.

Our custom mobility solutions include Group 3 power wheelchairs, custom manual wheelchairs, power seating systems, alternative drive controls, and custom seating and positioning.

We work with patients, caregivers, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists and insurance providers throughout the process. Our team can assist with home assessments, equipment configuration, insurance authorization, delivery, fitting, education and ongoing service.

Custom Seating with OrthoSEAT

The right seating system can improve comfort, positioning, stability and wheelchair performance. CareLinc offers customized seating solutions designed around each person’s body, mobility needs and daily activities.

Our team works with leading wheelchair and seating manufacturers, including Matrix Seating USA®, Ride Designs® and OrthoSEAT by CareLinc Medical Equipment. Available solutions include custom-contoured seating, wheelchair cushions, backs, positioning components and a variety of wheelchair bases.

CareLinc’s Complex Rehab professionals will work with you and your clinical team to identify a solution that balances comfort, function, positioning and mobility.

Group 3 Power Wheelchair Evaluations and Insurance

A Group 3 power wheelchair is a highly configurable mobility system intended for individuals with qualifying complex medical and mobility needs. Depending on the patient and insurance plan, the evaluation and approval process may include:

  • A face-to-face mobility examination with the treating practitioner
  • A specialty wheelchair evaluation completed by a qualified physical therapist, occupational therapist or other licensed clinician
  • Direct participation from a RESNA-certified ATP
  • An assessment of the patient’s home environment
  • Documentation supporting the medical necessity of the wheelchair, seating system and accessories
  • Prior authorization or additional documentation required by the insurance provider

CareLinc helps coordinate equipment selection and required documentation with the patient’s clinical team and insurance provider. Coverage and authorization depend on medical necessity, the individual insurance plan and applicable coverage requirements.
